| Yes, there is - you can take a bud to the isles with you, open up the "All Players Online" map, and the arrow with their name will be pointing to the center of the isle that you're on.
However, this isn't perfectly accurate - just because the shoe isn't directly in the center doesn't mean it isn't on that isle; you may need to spiral-dig out from the spot for a while, then move on.
